Classes, jobs, and late-night food runs—your bike gets you everywhere in college. But La Crosse isn’t just about commuting. It’s also home to some of the best bike paths in Wisconsin, right in your backyard.
Here are a few student-approved routes to ride when you’ve got an hour, an afternoon, or a whole weekend free.

1. Riverside Park to Pettibone Beach
Short, scenic, and perfect for a study break. Ride from campus or downtown to Riverside Park, cross the bridge, and you’re at Pettibone Beach. Easy loop, good for any bike, and bonus points if you bring friends.
2. La Crosse River State Trail
Want something longer? This trail heads east toward Sparta and connects to other regional paths. It’s flat, tree-lined, and a great place to test your legs (or your e-bike’s battery). Great for Aventon commuters and Velotric all-arounders.
3. Grandad Bluff Ride
It’s a climb, no sugar-coating it. But the view at the top is worth it every time. Blaupunkt folding e-bikes or Addmotor trikes with pedal-assist make it more manageable if hills aren’t your thing.
4. Goose Island Loop
For a weekend ride, Goose Island gives you river views, quiet roads, and enough distance to feel like a getaway. Pack snacks and enjoy the Mississippi scenery.
