When the week wraps up and you’ve got time to ride, Western Wisconsin’s Driftless Region delivers some of the most scenic and satisfying biking in the Midwest. Quiet roads, river views, bluff climbs, and small-town stops—this is cycling at its best. Whether you’re on a road bike, gravel setup, or an e-bike, these weekend rides are worth planning.
Driftless Loops Worth the Miles
1. Trempealeau and Perrot State Park
Start in La Crosse and head north along the Mississippi. The ride into Perrot State Park gives you river views, rolling terrain, and a chance to stop in Trempealeau for food or coffee. Perfect for a longer Saturday outing.
2. Root River Trail (Minnesota Border)
A short drive from La Crosse takes you to the Root River State Trail—60 miles of paved, scenic riding through small towns and rolling valleys. A great choice for a full-day ride or a relaxed weekend getaway.
3. Great River State Trail
For riders who prefer fewer hills, this trail runs 24 miles from La Crosse to Trempealeau along an old rail line. It’s flat, quiet, and ideal for testing e-bike range on a longer ride.
4. Goose Island to Stoddard Loop
A shorter ride south of La Crosse that packs in wildlife, marshland views, and easy river access. Great for a Sunday morning spin before the week kicks back in.
Why Go Electric for Weekend Rides?
Weekend trips mean more miles—and that’s where e-bikes shine. With 20–60 miles per charge, most models we carry easily handle Driftless routes. Addmotor trikes are perfect for carrying gear, Aventon and Velotric e-bikes balance speed with comfort, and Blaupunkt folding models are easy to pack if you’re driving to a trailhead.
Not sure which is right for you? Stop by our sales floor or ask about rentals to test different models before you commit.
Prep Before You Head Out
A longer ride deserves a quick check: tires, brakes, chain, and lights. Book a service appointment before your weekend trip so you don’t get stuck fixing something mid-route.
