How to Prepare Your E-Bike or Trike for Fall Riding

Cooler temps and shorter days don’t have to mean the end of your riding season. In La Crosse, fall is perfect for cruising river trails, tackling bluff climbs, or just enjoying an easy loop through town. But before you head out, it’s worth giving your e-bike or trike a little seasonal TLC.

At Wrench & Roll, we assemble, service, and repair all the electric bikes we sell—and plenty we didn’t. Here’s what we recommend for keeping your ride in peak condition through fall.
1. Check Your Battery Range in Cooler Temps
Batteries can lose efficiency as temperatures drop. If you usually get 50 miles on your Aventon or Velotric in summer, you might see a small decrease in fall. Test your usual loop and note the range so there are no surprises later. We can run a battery health check in minutes.
2. Inspect Tires and Brakes
Fallen leaves and damp roads mean you want solid traction and responsive stopping. Addmotor trikes with fat tires handle this well, but all riders should check for tread wear and brake pad life. If your stopping feels soft, book a brake service.
3. Add Lights for Shorter Days
Whether you’re commuting or taking a late-afternoon spin, it’s smart to have both front and rear lights this time of year. We stock e-bike-compatible lights that integrate with many models.
4. Clean and Lube the Drivetrain
Rain, leaves, and grit can wear your chain faster in the fall. A quick wipe and re-lube after wet rides goes a long way toward keeping things smooth.
Stay Rolling All Season
Fall might be the best time to ride in La Crosse—don’t let small maintenance issues cut it short. Bring your e-bike or trike to Wrench & Roll for a seasonal tune-up, or stop in to test ride models from Addmotor, Aventon, Velotric, Blaupunkt, and JackRabbit.
