Your bike is your freedom in college—your ride to class, your grocery hauler, your late-night pizza run partner. But when something goes wrong, it can feel like the end of the world. The good news? A few basic fixes will keep you rolling.
Here are the top five repairs every student should know (and when to call us if you don’t want to deal with it).

1. Fixing a Flat
It’s going to happen. Learn how to swap a tube or use a patch kit. Carry tire levers, a spare tube, and a mini pump in your backpack. Need a demo? Come by and we’ll show you how.
2. Adjusting Your Seat Height
Wrong seat height = sore knees and bad posture. Keep an Allen key in your dorm for quick adjustments. Your legs should be almost straight at the bottom of a pedal stroke.
3. Quieting a Squeaky Chain
Chains need lube. A dry, noisy chain wears out faster and makes your ride miserable. Wipe it down and apply bike-specific lube. We stock affordable options on our sales floor.
4. Checking Your Brakes
If your lever pulls all the way back or your bike doesn’t stop confidently, your pads may be worn or cables stretched. We’ll replace them quickly and cheaply, just book a service.
5. Keeping Tires Inflated
Low tires = more flats. Invest in a floor pump for your dorm or apartment. Most campus flats we see come from underinflated tires.
Students Don’t Need to Be MechanicsYou don’t need to know it all. Learn the basics, carry the essentials, and know we’re here when things get messy. From quick fixes to full tune-ups, contact us anytime.
